Alfriston & District Royal British Legion - Minutes of the meeting held at the Star Inn, Alfriston on Monday 7th April 2008 - Newsletter No 46

Those present :- Peter Gadsdon, Chris Goodchild, Jack Stalley, Graham Thomas, Ron Levett, Flyle Hussain, Malcolm Mazey, Bruce Buckingham, John Tozer, Gerald Munro, Gerard Garnett, L Clarke-Smith, Rob Raw, Patrick Ballingall, Chris Morley, Tom Dalgleish, David Bold, Ron Lane, Ian Wilson, Michael Morris               (20)

Apologies for absence:- David Lumsden, John Burton, Reg Jevans, Dennis Phelps, Bob Peedle, Peter Wallis, Richard Harman, Norman Holland, Veronica Cowin

Chairman Peter Gadsdon recorded with regret the deaths of Leonard Savage and Keith Bowman. Len's memorial service took place at St Andrew's on 25th January and was well attended by RBL members. He was 92 and had served in the RAF. Keith was a

Captain in the Army and will have a family service in Brighton in April. Both will be much missed.

The prayers and exhortation were given by Dr Gerald Munro

Ron Levett reported that the membership was 73 and Michael Morris of Selmeston

had transferred to our branch and was welcomed

Minutes of the meeting held on 7th January 2008 were approved as circulated in newsletter No 45

The lunch at the Star Inn in February was attended by 45 and enjoyed by most but there were some dissenters

Tickets for the Festival of Remembrance on 8th November were allocated to Malcolm and Betty Mazey and Flyle and Elfreda Hussain

Veronica Cowin sent a message to the meeting to say we should do more to promote the branch. The Secretary said he would obtain posters  for the notice board in the

Twitten and we shall try to get more prominence in Parish magazines

Malcolm Mazey has entered our branch for the RBL bowls competition and David Bold, Flyle Hussain and John Burton will make up the team
